Spiritual Direction
Vineyard Columbus is happy to announce that two of our Pastors, Kelli Messick and Stephen VanDop, will now be offering Spiritual Direction to our congregation.
During Kelli’s time as a member (30 years) and on staff (22 years) at VC she has loved walking alongside individuals and couples as they grow in their lives with Jesus. Over the last 10 years, Kelli has added practicing part-time as a Spiritual Director (LLC) to this life’s calling of journeying with others in their faith life. Over the remainder of the year, Kelli will be transitioning (retiring) from Pastor to Spiritual Director here at Vineyard Columbus.
If you would like to know more about spiritual direction with Kelli, contact her at kellimessickspiritualdirection@gmail.com. The first session is complimentary as a way to get to know each other and learn more about the practice of Spiritual Direction.
Stephen is a seasoned pastor, spiritual director, and small group leader whose service spans 40+ years. He delights in joining others on their spiritual journeys toward a deeper walk with Jesus and believes that faith flourishes when embedded in the body of Christ whose primary address is the local church. He is continually curious about life. He seeks solitude and exploration in rugged landscapes and believes that contemplative moments and play need to be alongside of work. To that end, he enjoys the arts, reading, outdoor adventures, pickleball and keeping up with his grandchildren. Stephen can be contacted at stephen.vandop@vineyardcolumbus.org for any inquires about engaging him in spiritual direction.
You may have heard about spiritual direction but may not be sure exactly what it is. At VC, we believe that our leaders could benefit from caring for their spiritual lives with God with a seasoned spiritual director as they take on the call of shepherding of God’s people.
It has been said that our spiritual maturity and our emotional maturity go hand and hand. We cannot have one without the other. Spiritual Direction is a place where you can make room for the parts of your spiritual life that need attention, discernment, and nurture. It is a place where you can find accompaniment for life’s transitions and challenging seasons. Your life with God matters and Spiritual Direction is a way to bring the missing pieces into the light and start to live from a new perspective. Through monthly one-on-one direction you will be able to contemplate, share your gratitude’s, longings and frustrations, and learn practices that will be a pathway of discipleship for mature Christian living.
While Stephen & Kelli will be meeting with our congregants here at the church, their practices are their own and any fees paid go directly to them. No money is exchanged with Vineyard Columbus.
